Good morning, Fresno.

Drip on Drip held its 9th annual backpack and school supplies giveaway on Saturday at its River Park store—150 backpacks with supplies, 3 HP Chromebooks, and prizes like Bluetooth headphones and Jordan shoes were given out to local students, with owners Sonia and Roman Gonzales, who also oversee U-Tec stores, hosting the event.

A traffic stop on Saturday near Mulberry and Rodriguiez Avenue led Parlier Officers to check a car with a 16-year-old driver without a license who had a vape pen and an 18-year-old passenger carrying a loaded handgun + the passenger was arrested on firearm charges while the driver received a ticket and was released.

A Navy F35-C Lightning II crashed on Supervisor Buddy Mendes’ cotton field near Naval Air Station Lemoore on July 30 after the pilot ejected safely, and first responders put out the fire and airlifted him to a hospital.

Mendes said the Navy has secured the site — although cleanup is still uncertain, his crop cannot be irrigated until the plane is removed — leaving his farm in limbo.

Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris said he is OK after being taken off the field in an ambulance during last night's preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons — he later posted a message with a Bible verse to thank his supporters.
